Another method used to extract essential oils from plants too delicate for steam distillation is by solvent extraction. These oils are called absolutes and should not be taken internally. Common absolutes are Rose, Jasmine and Mimosa. Absolutes are usually thick, and provide rich lasting aromas excellent for perfumery and blending.
